“Ultra-reliable, good value and look great”

Dan says: “Right Dan, can you write a few words on a product that you’ve used for a long time and have absolute faith in.” That was the request from ACF group editor Marc Coulson as we compiled this issue.

The choice was easy, a product that I’ve put my absolute trust in for over six years – Gardner’s TLB alarms.

The simplicity of the alarm is what makes it so reliable and efficient. With an on-off switch, extremely bright LED and jack port to enable the use of a receiver, it does everything that I need of an alarm. Sure there are other features that you can find in some top-end alarms but reliability is the main consideration and these are exactly that.

TLBs are fully waterproof and mine have been used throughout torrential downpours and even completely submerged in the margins when ‘guesting’ on waters. They have never let me down. From fishing throughout every season and weather condition in the UK, to slinging them around either my car boot or shed, the TLB has proved to be the most rugged and durable bit of kit that I own.

I think they look great, too. I have the original polished-stainless-steel versions but in keeping with modern trends they are now available in a matt-black finish. In my opinion, you will be hard pushed to find an alarm that looks as good.

You won’t see loads and loads of these on the banks of your local waters but there are plenty of them out there, in use, by anglers who know exactly what they want their alarms to do.
