Ladies Carp Fishing International

Anglo – Welsh Cup – Ladies Carp Fishing International

Englands’ Lionesses will travel across to the border to Wales to compete in the Anglo/Welsh Cup on Friday 28th April.

The event, which runs for 48 hours at the White Springs complex in Pontarddulais, South Wales, will see three pairs from each nation take part in the 2nd ever all-female international carp fishing event.

Carp team England Manager Rob Hughes announced  ”It will be a great event and one which is going to be seriously contested. We’re not expecting an easy ride by any stretch of the imagination and the Welsh team are very strong this year. However, we’ve been out practising and are on form so get ready for a great battle”.

Female participation in fishing, especially carp fishing, is becoming a real growth area and the formation of the national teams and the first ever all ladies international event last year was a real landmark occasion. England won convincingly, but the event this year will be hotly contested with the Welsh Dragons a powerhouse on home turf. The prize is The Clifford Cup and one which the Welsh are hoping to take control of on home turf.

“We’re really looking forward to the event this year. We took a lot from the last event and the Welsh ladies have been out practising and are ready for this year's challenge. It’s a pleasure to welcome the England Ladies to our country and we’re proud to be hosting this magnificent event” announced Welsh Manager Gareth Oakes.

The competition runs from midday Friday to Midday Sunday and is run to a mixture of FIPS International, and BCAC home international rules. Three pairs from each nation will be fishing, with one pair from each nation in each section. The winner of the section scores 2 pt, second 1, and a blank gets 0. The winner will be decided by the team with the most points.
