One rod, two jobs; this is the new hybrid addition to one of Daiwa’s flagship ranges.

A tangent of thinking has seen tackle giant Daiwa develop this multi-purpose rod as an addition to its Longbow DF range. It gives you a rod developed specifically for spodding and marker work, cutting down on the number of rods that you need to carry and buy.One rod, two jobs; this is the new hybrid addition to one of Daiwa’s flagship ranges.
With a 4.25lb test curve the Longbow DF Spod & Marker is slightly softer, by 0.25lb, than the out-and-out Longbow DF spod rod yet is plenty powerful enough to launch a loaded spod considerable distances. This lighter test curve, coupled with the blank’s characteristics, allows a degree of ‘feel’ to be maintained in the tip for locating the subtler features and changes in lake-bed make-up, when coupled with a large lead and marker float. This is genuinely a hybrid rod, developed in conjunction with Danny Fairbrass, as all the DF rods have been. It’s not a gimmick and it’s not an existing blank that’s been rebranded.
Once you’ve found your spot and clipped up you can simply wind in, swap the marker setup for a spod and bait up with pinpoint accuracy. Furthermore, you get twice as much use from one of these than you do from either a dedicated spod or marker rod.
Being a Longbow DF, the Spod & Marker is built and finished to the same specification as the other rods in the range. It boasts a Fuji DPS reel seat, silk matt low-glare finish, profiled NS shrink-wrap handle, a custom-built finish throughout and, of course, the air of quality and assurance that comes with a Daiwa DF rod.
